Registered Charity Number: 266602
The Holy Rood Trust was established in 1973 to support those communities of monks and nuns wishing to give their lives to praising God and interceding for His people.
The Trustees make grants, loans and bursaries to these communities in line with the objects of the charity, which are the relief of poverty amongst the communities and to promote the education of the individual members for the furtherance of contemplative life.
Grants and loans, usually up to a maximum of £10,000, are available to assist with significant capital expenditure. Bursaries, usually up to a maximum of £300, are made for the benefit of individual members attending courses, retreats, meetings and counselling. Larger meeting expenses will also be considered. Grants and bursaries are only made to the community and not directly to individuals. The Trustees warmly invite communities to make an initial enquiry to see if the charity can assist in any way.
COVID-19 Update: Due to the ongoing restrictions necessitated by the pandemic, the trustees are aware that communities may be suffering additional or unexpected hardship or need due to a loss of income. The Trustees have made a temporary change to the financial criteria in order to accommodate consideration of requests for funding and would very much encourage you to make an enquiry.
