Alexa is a member of the Property Team and handles a mix of commercial and residential, freehold and leasehold property matters for a range of charities, businesses and individuals.
Having spent the first part of her career as a litigator, Alexa has a particular interest in some of the potentially contentious areas of property law such as business lease renewal and termination under the Landlord & Tenant Act 1954, restrictive covenants and other title problems and service charge issues under long residential leases. She also deals with Leasehold Enfranchisement and lease extensions.
After graduating with a degree in Law from Oxford University, Alexa undertook her solicitor's training at Witham Weld. She remained with the firm after qualifying and handled dispute resolution, including civil court proceedings on a wide range of matters before moving on to property related work. She became a partner in 1987.
Alexa is a member of the Charity Law Association and of the Conference of Solicitors for Catholic Charities, and is also a trustee of a number of charities.
On a personal note
Alexa is a governor of a voluntary aided secondary school for girls in Wimbledon, where she was elected Chair of Governors in November 2003, and is on their Personnel and Health & Safety sub-committees. She was also, for 10 years, a governor of an independent charitable school for girls in North Dorset.
